ACRL’s “Revising the Information Literacy Competency Standards” Online Open Forums

If you haven’t yet had a chance, check out the recordings and Q&A’s available from ACRL’s Online Open Forums on Revising the Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education. As we all know, it helps to have well-thought-out standards and learning outcomes when assessing any kind of library instruction or service. Check out the Q&A’s regarding the revision process of the Info Lit Competency Standards and Assessment. ACRL’s current Information Literacy Competency Standards have been in effect since 2000, and a draft of the revised competencies for higher education will be available for comment in mid-December with feedback due by mid February.

    Chesnutt Library will host its sixth cohort (2013 – 2014) of the Chesnutt Library Fellows Information Literacy Program on December 17th and 18th, 2013.
    With each new cohort, the ACRL standards are always discussed, as well as ways the standards can be integrated into course syllabi and assignments. But, surely, the 2013 – 2014 cohort will also be discussing the impending revisions.
