In the informal survey of library assessment priorities among Oregon libraries that LART recently completed, one of the themes that rose to the top – was that of assessment of library instruction and learning. As information literacy is one area of learning that libraries emphasize, it makes sense that OLA-LART assists in facilitating assessment of information literacy in Oregon.
One way that OLA-LART is tackling this is to form a more formal relationship with the Information Literacy Advisory Group of Oregon (ILAGO). To do so, LART has created a liaison position to ILAGO. This position will give a brief update at the annual Information Literacy Summit that ILAGO hosts. In addition, LART will help “curate” a session at the summit that focus specifically on assessing information literacy. Sara Seely has agreed to serve as our first LART/ILAGO rep. Let’s welcome and cheer on her efforts in this important area!
